I know I already left a review for this blouse, but I wanted to leave another with a picture.

It fits great, is made of nice fabric that is sewn well (the hems are double turned instead of just serged on the edges; the buttonholes are horizontal, so they don’t pull), and the styling is incredibly flattering. I love the little bit of puff at the sleeves, and I don’t usually go for that, but it just gives the perfect vintage look.

You can wear the shirt tail tucked in or out. I wore it out over a pair of white capri pants. I have a hard time matching the blue of the blouse to an appropriate bottom, though – I think I need to make some white or khaki wide legged “Smooth Sailing” trousers from the WH pattern, because I’d really like to wear this blouse more!

At any rate, I highly recommend it, or future versions made in other fabrics. I’ll buy them ALL!

My wife recently purchased the Ruthie Blouse from Wearing History and I couldn’t be happier with it. Not only is the styling classic vintage, but the fabric and local craftsmanship is of exceptional quality. It’s like I pulled this blouse out of my grandmother’s closet! What’s more, I find the Ruthie Blouse very comfortable and flattering, especially on those days I feel like channeling my inner vintage feminine side. I would recommend this to all my friends who feel like occasionally trying on their wives’ clothing while making a special delicious supper for their loving and understanding wives.

  3. A PERFECT BASIC 5 Star Review

I love this blouse! The fit is spot on and oh so flattering. And the fabric is dreamy! I get loads of compliments when wearing it (which is often). I hope there are more versions of this blouse in other colors in the future.

This blouse fits like a dream, and I absolutely LOVE those buttons! I feel so polished wearing it, and it looks fantastic with my Smooth Sailing Trousers. I can hardly wait to pair those two together and be the talk of the party!!

I was pleasantly surprised at how well this blouse fit – almost like it was made just for me. Everything hangs as it should and there wasn’t any gapping in the buttons across the chest, which is my usual problem. I was happy to see that the buttonholes were horizontal instead of vertical – the reason for the good fitment, but also attention to detail that lets me know, among so many other things, that Lauren, the designer, really puts a lot of thought into her garments. I’m absolutely thrilled with the blouse and would buy this cut in other fabrics, too.

  6. I LOVE MY BLOUSE! 5 Star Review

I don’t know where to begin my praise. The material is very soft. I was shocked that it fit me! Really, who orders clothing online that fits so beautifully! The style is perfectly feminine. I have paid more than this for a blouse many times, and the quality of workmanship and detail are amazing. I also bought the trousers which fit perfectly as well. I’m the person who goes shopping and am hard to find things to fit. i wish I could send my photo, I looked like I like a woman in an old movie:-) I am so happy I bought this set! Please make more forties clothing Lauren! Especially for those of us who can’t sew! I would love more tops to wear with my trousers, and a couple of skirts to match as well.
    Thanks so much!

  7. SO COMFORTABLE! 5 Star Review

Just tried the Ruthie Blouse on and couldn’t be more pleased. The fabric is fantastic (super soft). The workmanship is suberb. Best of all, I can move in the sleeves! Every vintage blouse I have bought or sewn is always a bit restrictive in the sleeves/armhole. I’m pretty sure I could take a ballet class with the Ruthie Blouse on! What is your sleeve secret Lauren!?

Imagine my delight as I opened my package from Wearing History to find my brand-new Ruthie blouse! First off, it was packed nicely in a clear-plastic protective sleeve and folded perfectly so as not to wrinkle unduly. Second, NEW GARMENT SMELL. Oh dear God, I haven’t smelled that in ages. But above and beyond these little things – the BIG thing is the quality of the blouse. The fabric is pre-shrunk, the quality of the weave is beautiful. The well thought-out aspects of the blouse are really impressive, specifically the beautifully, cleanly sewn seams, the finish work on all edges on the inside of the garment, the way the collar lays, and the way the lapel drapes. The facing, the yoke, everything lays together cleanly, in a complimentary fashion to every component. Those lovely Art Deco German buttons are a perfect compliment to the composition of the design. The over all cut is smart, tailored looking, and flattering.

I don’t consider myself a, “plus,” size, but often vintage & vintage-inspired clothing is too small for me, so the XL size worked out great. Mind Lauren’s sizing chart very carefully – as with such a quality fitted blouse, there’s no elastic or spandex to be had here! In conventional clothing I typically get a lady’s large, depending upon the cut, and this fits me perfect.

Add to it that I’ve already received numerous compliments on the blouse is such a delight! I’m proud to support Lauren & her company and I look forward to proudly wearing many more from her collection! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
