This "Resto-Vival" pattern is a digital pattern for a bra dating to the wartime 1940s.
Wearing History #4003D
1940s Bra E- Pattern
Pattern size- Bust 32, with no cup size indicated.
This pattern runs large. and I would estimate the finished sample size at it a 34B-C or 36A-B. The mannequin measures 35" around the bust and is about a B cup.
This pattern is SINGLE SIZE, not multisize. No other sizes are available in this pattern.
This pattern is true to the original period pattern lines and includes original seam allowances and ease.
Instructions from the original period instruction sheet are included. Note that vintage instructions may be difficult for the modern sewer to comprehend. Intermediate dressmaking knowledge and a muslin mock up of the pattern are suggested, as vintage fit, ease, and construction are different than modern standards.
Sample notes: The sample was made with topstitching detail (stitching lines not indicated original pattern), and the edges were finished with bias facing instead of the bias binding called for in the original pattern. When finished with bias binding the bra will be 1/2" taller at top and bottom in length than the sample bra that is pictured.
You are getting a multi-page PDF of the pattern pieces and the instructions to print out on regular 8.5" x 11" letter paper. Cutting instructions are included for the shoulder strap piece- the original is a rectangle and will not fit on print out paper.
Print this pattern out on your home printer. When printing make sure you select to print the pattern the original size in your print options. Some printers automatically resize images but the image I send to you is true to original scale and must be printed in the original size to be correct.
You will be sent an email of a link to download after checkout and after your order is marked "completed". If paying with a new Paypal address or placing the order with paper patterns there may be a slight delay.
This pattern download is available for up to two days from purchase date. You will be able to download it twice before it expires.

A PRETTY BRA

The pattern makes up very nicely and it is a pretty bra… and it definitely does run large in the cups… I buy modern 34C bras. I’d go so far as to say the cup of this pattern would fit a largerC verging on D even.
I made it in a soft silk satin and do need to scale the cups down. Will then probably try it again in a firmer fabric, like a cotton sateen, which should offer more support too.

This is one of the best digital patterns I have ever used. The bra fits me great, and I am a 36A in modern bras. I disagree that it runs large in the cups. I cut mine on the straight of grain, out of cotton sateen, and I only had to make some minor adjustments on the sides. Over all this was a great pattern for me to use on my first adventure in lingerie wear.
